WordPlay Cincy has partnered with the Urban Appalachian Community Coalition, Downbound Books, Shake It Records, and a number of individuals in Northside to put together the Eastern Kentucky Recovery Benefit on Friday, September 9th beginning at 6:30 pm. The event will feature music from Dale Farmer and Ma Crow, hip-hop musician Jay Hill, Mark Messerly of Wussy and rock band, Tina Fey. It will also feature readings from MoPoetry Phillips, Richard Hague, Michael Henson, Carter Sickels, Robert Gipe, and Cincinnati Poet Laureate emeritus, Pauletta Hansel. This outdoor/indoor event will benefit the Hindman Settlement School’s Flood Relief Fund, which provides direct assistance in eastern Kentucky and will also help rebuild this important community cultural, and educational institution.
